Ken and Karen are now retired. What follows is their story about Making Thyme Kitchen.
20 years ago we decided to start a business that would solve a universal problem – figuring out what to have for dinner – that was good, and quick, and convenient, and not the same old thing.
With the help of our friends and families, our customers, our staff, and our community of small business owners, we figured out how to make Making Thyme Kitchen a sustainable business.
Today we are firmly established in our own building, in the Alger Heights business district, and couldn’t be happier. Our customers come from all over the greater Grand Rapids area. Some shop the store, some pickup orders, and for others we deliver. Stop in and see for yourself.

We are not trained chef’s, we are enthusiastic cooks who have built a small business serving customers who want to know who makes their food and where their food comes from.
Our success is pretty simple – we work hard, listen to our customers and don’t make anything we won’t eat and enjoy ourselves.

When we started Making Thyme Kitchen we only delivered pre-ordered packages. Over time our offer grew to include retail sales, a deli case of fresh sides and salads, baked goods, and of recent a partnership with Harvest Health Foods to provide them with our fresh products.
Now we deliver every Wednesday in the Grand Rapids area. Our retail store is open five days a week. And our deli case and baked goods selection has grown.
